How To Paint Christmas Ornaments

One of my top tips for how to paint Christmas ornaments is that less is more. The more pigment you apply, the thicker it is, the longer it takes to dry, and the more chance of the pigment just running out of the decoration and colors bleeding together.

The showtime thing you will need to do is make sure your ornaments are completely make clean, so cascade a trivial rubbing alcohol into each, swish information technology around the within, so leave the ornaments upside down to dry overnight.

Now you lot can begin painting.

I found it easiest to use the squeeze bottle, not merely to mix the marbling medium and acrylic paints together but also to get just small-scale quantities at a time inside the ornaments.

When mixing the marbling medium with acrylic paint information technology is a 1 to 1 ratio. Once mixed, go out to sit for a little while so there are no air bubbling.

Now, gently clasp only a picayune inside your decoration, turn your ornament a little and clasp a little more. Let the paint run effectually the inside of the ornamentation before adding more than paint. As I mentioned above the less y'all use, the better.

If y'all want to add more colors, do so earlier all the gaps have filled upward.

You can use as many dissimilar colors as you like and yous can also mix between matte, metallic, and glitter paints.

Once all the gaps are filled, place your ornamentation upside down in a cup to permit any excess paint drain out, and then set your ornaments bated to dry. I recommend drying for at least 48 hours earlier you replace the top to your ornament.

If you want to add just one colour, or mix say the teal to make a few different shades of it, then that will create a lovely watercolor result inside the ornament.

Or maybe, you want to just mix a little white, golden, and gold glitter to make a simple ornament like this one.

But so, y'all can likewise add together some glitter to the outside likewise. The Testors Craft Intense Glitter paint works best for this. Yous can simply employ a thin layer to the outside of an decoration you've poured pigment into like this …

Or, yous can use stencils to add together an initial, date, or proper noun to the decoration, like this …

Permit's interruption downwardly a few of these different ornaments and I'll testify yous exactly what I used to create them.
